Car Loan Question: Paying off loan early by paying payment first day it’s due NOT on due date (less interest)?
I am trying to pay the loan off early and I’ve done so in the past with other loans like this. It is simple interest and TRUST ME, I have contacted the credit union several times & they look at me like I’m retarded. LAST LOAN: I paid my payment on the first day I could (usually the 2nd of the month). I only paid 1 day worth of interest & a majority of the payment went towards the principal. I did this every month and knocked it off 11 months early! My cycle started on the 2nd of the month (since my payment was due on the 1st). It then calculates it every day for that month & you pay the total interest based off of when you pay your payment (ie: on 25th=24 days of interest). On the 2nd it would re CURRENT LOAN: If I made a payment on the 11-16. (due 12-15) then I would of only paid 1 day of interest. My problem is that they charge me almost 60 days of interest if I pay my next payment on the actual due date (1-15). Is this right? Why is this different than my previous loan?"

I want to buy a car I’m 20 and I was able to get my 1st loan with a co signer from a credit union in my area. I went for a second loan for the same amount both were 3,500 dollers and got that one w/out a co signer. I’ve been told by an agent that I can purchase 100,000 worth of life insurance and borrow up to 75% of it after two years. In other words, I can purcahse 100,000 worth of coverage, then loan 75,000 in two years at 7%. I then asked what would happen if I was unable to pay the loan back, and I was told that the agency would write off the loss and that I would have to pay taxes on the 75,000 to the IRS as income. My credit would not be harmed because life insurance policies do not count on your credit report (so I’m told). I think he stated it was a universal life policy. I’ve read other places that you can borrow only on the cash value of the policy. However, I was told specifically that I could borrow on the death benefit, and that if I kept the policy then it would pay out what I had not borrowed ($25,000). Sounds too good to be true, but if it is I could sure use the money to pay off student loans. I have them in forbearance and would like to pay them off in large chunks and planned to use my wife’s (soon to be a teacher in the last year of school) income to pay off both our loans in huge chunks and live off my income and maybe some of hers. Can anyone help me with an auto loan?
Everyone seems to think that we are living higher than our means. My husband injured himself and that required surgery and 12 weeks out work. I have stopped all non-necessity bills, we rarely eat out, I use coupons and everything else I can think of to help right now and we are doing what we can to get caught up but it isn’t that easy. Even if I get rid of the auto loan we’d still have to come up with enough money for another vehicle to buy outright and pay off the difference in the current loan. We work too far a distance from our home to use public transportation. We have worked very hard to put my husband through school while having enough money to raise our children. 23 years old, unmarried. Never had a late payment, I’ve had credit since 18. All my credit are only from credit cards, which I owe less than 10% on all of them. I asked for 22,000 w/ chase auto loan and they approved me for only 14,900 with 3.19%apr. I know dealerships have closer ties with the banks and can work around that. If I went to a dealership, showed them that I got approved for 3.19% apr on a 48 month term for 14,900, and would like to see if they can match the apr for a 22,000, do you think the dealership might be able to do it? My current car, 2003 audi, is getting too expensive to maintain and the gas is ridiculous. I want a honda. But the audi was given to me as a hand me down, not my choice."

I filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in Michigan. The only secured debt that I have is a car loan which I signed a reaffirmation agreement for. Now I have to go to court to prove that I will be able to afford my car payments. My question is how do I prove I can make my payment to the judge? My parents live with me and my mother was my co-signer for the loan. She plans on going and telling the judge that if I can’t make my payments she will do it. She doesn’t have a very large income though so I am not sure how much of an impact that will have. I really can afford the payments myself but the way they figure expenses for basic things like food and clothing differ from the way I budget. I spend much less than other people apparently.
